Part of joining a Lions Club is a process called “Orientation,” to explain Club processes and expectations for new members.

On May 14th, Fairfax Lions provided an orientation to two GMU students (both pre-Optometry) Ben Dilzer and Jordan Jacobi, and Tom Hewlett.

Lions Bench Donated by Generous Family

In 2023, the Vienna Arts Society held a “Take a Seat Vienna” auction selling forty benches.  All benches were made by Vienna resident Ralph Reinecke, and painted by several Vienna Arts Society artists.  One featured artist was Lion Joyce Myers (now a Fairfax Lion) who paints a Lions Bench.

On May 14, 2024, the Bernhard family – who purchased the Lions Bench – donated it to the Fairfax Lions Club (former members of Vienna Lions Club have merged into Fairfax Lions Club), and placed it in front of Fosters Grille in Vienna.

Lion Walter Jessop served over 50 years in the Vienna Host Lions Club, chairing Christmas Tree sales for over 40 years. Jess has a love for the beauty and history of Washington DC, and spoke to Fairfax Lions about landmarks, memorials, and the roles of George Washington and French military engineer Major Pierre L’Enfant in designing the city.

Lion Walter Jessop  describes features of Washington DC depicted in a Currier & Ives representation of DC in the late 1800’s.

Fairfax Lions – 73Years Serving Fairfax Community

On April 14th, FX Lions Club celebrated its 73rd year. A new member was inducted into the Club, and we enjoyed a wonderful talk by the senior Lion officer in the area (Governor of Lions District 24L) who presented awards to several Lions for their length of service…longest was to Lion Harry Parker (a past Governor’s Council Chair) for his 45 years as a Lion. It was a most enjoyable evening event at the Chantilly National Golf and Country Club.

Fairfax Lions have a great time serving their community; contact us any time to arrange a visit to see what we do. You can join us! Email us: info@fairfaxlions.org. or leave a message:  703-879-5795
