Clinton Twp. police arrest missing girl, 15, who had marijuana in bra

CLINTON TWP. — A 15-year-old Somerville girl who hid marijuana in her bra was arrested here Friday. She turned out to be a missing person.

According to police, Friday just after 12 a.m., Patrolman Sean Ross was traveling Route 22 West near the Round Valley Reservoir access road when he entered the license plate number of a 1998 Acura into his onboard laptop computer and learned that the vehicle had been entered into the National Crime Information Center as possibly containing a missing juvenile female from Somerville.

Ross stopped the car and talked with the driver, Keith Parsons, age 19, of Branchburg Township. During the stop, Ross observed a young female in the passenger’s seat but was told that she was Parsons’ sister, not the missing juvenile. Backup officers observed pieces of marijuana throughout the car and a search revealed an opened bottle of vodka and 13 beers.

Upon being confronted, “sister” produced two bags of marijuana from her bra, police said. Officers soon learned that the teen was indeed the missing 15-year-old. Parsons was charged with underage possession of an alcoholic beverage, having an open alcohol container in a vehicle and operating a vehicle while possessing a controlled dangerous substance, the marijuana.

The girl was charged with hindering apprehension, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and underage possession of an alcoholic beverage. Passenger Steven James, 18, of Somerset, was charged with the same drug and alcohol offenses. Passenger Amy Lorig, 20, of Basking Ridge was charged with underage possession of an alcoholic beverage. The adults were released ROR and the missing juvenile was returned to her family.

DUI, drug arrest

Clinton Township police also reported this arrest:

Thursday at about 2 a.m., Patrolman Harry Bugal stopped a vehicle operated by Kevin Webb, 25, of High Bridge, on Center Street near Route 31 for failing to stop for a stop sign. During the stop, Bugal detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Webb’s breath and determined that he was intoxicated. Bugal also discovered that Webb was in possession of a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe with residue, police said.

Webb was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he provided samples of his breath for chemical testing to determine the content of alcohol in his blood. Bugal charged him with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, driving while intoxicated, failure to stop for stop sign and having improper side view mirrors.

He was released to the custody of a responsible adult and his vehicle was towed and impounded.
