A new Street Fighter 6 option select has been discovered that allows you to bait and punish wake up Drive Reversals fairly easily

No, you haven't woken up in the year 2009 and we aren't talking about Street Fighter 4 here. It is indeed 2024, we have Street Fighter 6, and a new option select has been discovered that seems to help players deal with the game's newest universal mechanic a bit more easily.

Footage of a fresh option select coming out of Japan has surfaced and demonstrates how you can essentially perform a meaty light attack while simultaneously baiting wake up Drive Reversal, allowing you to parry and punish the new defensive mechanic. I have gone in and tested it out a bit myself, and here's how it appears to work.

Awesome Wolverine vs. Zangief stop motion animation makes us wish there was a new Marvel vs. Capcom to play

Despite the games combined having sold only around 20% of Street Fighter's total, Marvel vs. Capcom remains one of the most influential fighting games our there — including providing inspiration for multiple scenes in X-Men '97's big return.

That goes for fan animation too with the talented D.M. Galloway recently dropping a new stop motion MvC short pitting Wolverine against Zangief.

Homelander has cool Easter egg when performing Brutality against one character in particular in Mortal Kombat 1

NetherRealm Studios certainly likes to go in hard when bringing guest characters into Mortal Kombat to give fans a lot to pick up on references and cute tie-ins to connect the universes.

Homelander just launched as the latest DLC fighter in Mortal Kombat 1 with quite a few references to The Boys, but there's probably one you haven't seen yet because it only happens against one character in particular.

Street Fighter 6 Director Takayuki Nakayama expects fans to be incredibly surprised by the Season 2 roster

Akuma was released alongside the Season 2 update for Street Fighter 6 just a couple of weeks ago. Needless to say, it's time to start talking about the Season 2 roster.

As of right now, next to nothing is known about the DLC characters that are slated to be released after Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma. Though Director Takayuki Nakayama and the rest of the development team have remained pretty tight lipped about Season 2, Nakayama has been teasing small tidbits of information.

Data mined announcer voice lines potentially reveals an unannounced guest character for Mortal Kombat 1

Homelander was recently made available in Mortal Kombat 1. Of the characters that have been announced for the Kombat Pack, only Takeda Takahashi remains.

It's unlikely that Mortal Kombat 1's post-launch content will conclude after that. In fact, we may have caught wind of some evidence suggesting that NetherRealm Studios is already working on another batch of DLC fighters, likely for a theoretical "Kombat Pack 2."

As it turns out, Akuma has had a dominant impact on Street Fighter 6's ranked mode. AlietteFaye recently highlighted how Akuma is being represented the most within Street Fighter 6's Legend rank.

It's already almost unheard of for a fighting game developer to remove an already available character from the roster even temporarily, and doing without any warning can lead to some equally rare situations like this.

Desk uncovers what is probably the most difficult super art to Perfect Parry in Street Fighter 6

Akuma was released as a DLC character in Street Fighter 6, marking the end of Season 1 and the start of Season 2. To commemorate this, Desk recently uploaded a video showcasing how he learned to Perfect Parry against every DLC super art — with the obvious exception of the Raging Demon since it counts as a command grab.

Of course, Desk even made it a point to perform Perfect Parries against Akuma's two secret level 2 super arts that can only be unlocked by going through a 30-second taunt animation. However, it's interesting to note that it was actually A.K.I.'s section of the video that takes up the most time.

Christianity's Jesus and Judas Iscariot served as a basis for Gill and Urien in Street Fighter 3

While mostly well known for its pop culture references, the Street Fighter franchise has also drawn upon many sources for its characters through the years, with Christianity's Jesus and Judas Iscariot being a basis for Gill and Urien, respectively, the two brothers in the Illuminati/Secret Society.

Gill made his debut in Street Fighter 3 in 1997 as the game's boss character, while Urien would follow later that year, being added with the 2nd Impact.
