Prostration of Clergy at St Anne's Buxton

Healing the Wounds of Sexual Abuse
The parish of St Anne’s Buxton recently held a day of prayer for survivors and victims of abuse.  Child sexual abuse not only grievously harms victims of it, but it all too often wounds communities where it happened. There can be deep feelings of betrayal, shame, hurt and mistrust for communities as well as, and more importantly, the victims.

WELCOME SR. TREASA who will be speaking at mass this weekend about the Week of Guided Prayer that we are holding from Sunday 16th- Saturday 22nd June. She will be visiting us for that week along with Carmel and Michael O’Malley from Hazel Grove. The week entails meeting with one of them for 30mins each day, Monday to Friday, and committing to prayer, as they suggest, for 30 mins each day. The week will begin and finish with a group meeting in the Parish Community Centre: Sunday at 4:30pm and Saturday at 10:30am. Please take a leaflet today and return it, if possible, next weekend. Contact me if you need any clarification.

A PENTECOST SERVICE OF ANOINTING - THANK YOU to all who took part in the service last Sunday. I found it a very moving and deeply prayerful occasion because of the profound faith each of us brought to it. Thanks to Iris and John, Margaret, the ladies serving the teas and coffees and everyone who helped make it such a lovely occasion. Thanks also to those who baked the cakes – the mole would have devoured them!

THANK YOU TO OUR AFRICAN COMMUNITY for leading the Offertory Procession and hymn last Sunday. It was a moving experience of Pentecost here among us.  Click to watch video ...

ABORTION AMENDMENT BILL postponed 2 weeks ago, will not be tabled now in Parliament because of the election. Thankyou to all who took an interest in it and wrote to our MP.

GENERAL ELECTION – CAFOD RESOURCES - In the weeks to come, we’ll hear a lot about the issues political parties say voters care about. But as Catholics, we know that caring for the poorest and most marginalised people both here and overseas is among the most important issue politicians should act on. During the election campaign let us make sure our candidates hear about the issues that matter. See UK general election 2024: A guide for Catholic voters (cafod.org.uk)
