Charlie - ADOPTED! Pomeranian Niagara Falls, ON

Hi, my name is Charlie. I am an adorable four and a half pound Pomeranian who is looking for my forever home. I was picked up as a stray and spent three weeks in a shelter waiting for someone to miss me, but no one ever came to claim me. At least I don’t have to stay in the shelter any more: Now I live with my foster mom while I search for the perfect person to adopt me.





I am a super lovable little guy but I do get very scared in certain situations so to protect myself I growl and try to bite. My foster mom says that I need to work past this behaviour if I want to find my forever home and I am getting better as I learn that no one wants to hurt me. But can you really blame me? The world can be a very scary place when you are left alone in a cage with no one to love and help me learn to trust. I am only afraid of people, particularly men, who try to approach me. If they don’t touch me, speak to me directly or make eye contact I will still growl and bark - just in case - but I will calm down quickly if I am ignored.





I love to spend time with my foster brother and I play well with him and other dogs. I could go on and on about me, but I’ll let my foster mom talk now.




Foster Mom Report - June 2011


Like Charlie said, he is an adorable little guy. He definitely came from a home where someone spent time training him: He knows basic commands and learns new ones very quickly. He walks well on a leash, loves car rides, belly rubs and rolling around in the grass.



Charlie is housetrained and will use a pee pad when left alone. He spends the night sleeping at the top of the bed next to my head and will get up to use his pee pad in the night, if needed, and hop right back into bed when hes done.



Charlie needs a home with patient adults who can help him continue to work through his fear and trust issues. He has shown great improvement since coming to his foster home and I do believe that he will eventually get past this hurdle.
