• The number of casualties is still increasing following the heavy rainfall that affected the Rio Grande do Sul state since early May, causing floods and triggering landslides and mudslides.
• The Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul state and WHO PAHO reports, as of 3 June, 172 fatalities, 42 people still missing, 806 injured people, nearly 579,500 still displaced people - of which around 37,200 evacuated in several shelters - and a total of approximately 2,390,500 affected people across 475 municipalities throughout the state.
• Over the next 72 hours, drier conditions are expected over the whole Rio Grande do Sul state.

• Following the flooding caused by the heavy rainfall that has been affecting eastern China, particularly the Shandong province since 1 June, the number of casualties has increased.
• Media report, as of 5 June, three fatalities and five slightly injured people across the area of the Huafeng coal mine - near the Tai'an city, Ningyang county, southern Shandong province - due to floods.
• Over the next 72 hours, according to the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), no more rainfall is forecast over the whole Shandong province.

• Heavy rainfall, strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning, due to the onset of the Southwest Monsoon,  continued to affect most of Sri Lanka since 1 June, causing several severe weather-related incidents that have resulted in casualties and damage. The affected provinces are: Sabaragamuwa, Northen, Western, Southern, North Western and Central.
• Media report, as of 5 June, 26 fatalities and 41 injured people across the affected area. The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) also reports, as of 4 June, one person still missing, more than 8,200 evacuated people in 123 shelters, nearly 3,400 damaged houses and a total of approximately 161,300 affected people across 13 district throughout the aforementioned six affected provinces.
• Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is still forecast over the eastern and the western parts of Sri Lanka.

• Over the past 24 hours, the volcanic activity of Kanlaon Volcano, Negros Occidental province, central Philippines, continues and was characterized by 53 volcanic earthquakes, SO2 emissions (4,113 tonnes) and an ash plume 2 km high drifting from south-southwest to north-west.
• According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), as of 5 June, almost 2,000 people have been displaced, of whom 1,435 sheltered in 12 evacuation centres - 1,280 in Western Visayas and 155 in Central Visayas - and 188 were served outside. A total of eight domestic flights and one international flight were cancelled, and a State of Calamity was declared in Canlaon Municipality, Negros Oriental province.
• National authorities are providing assistance for those affected, and the alert level of the volcano stands at 2 (increasing unrest) as reported by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS). Entry into 4 km radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) from the crater are not allowed.

• In the past few days, heavy rainfall has been impacting Sulawesi and Java Islands, central Indonesia, triggering landslides and floods that resulted in casualties and damage.
• The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB) reports a landslide in Supit Hamlet, Lumajang Regency, East Java Province that occurred on 4 June and resulted in one fatality and three still missing people. In addition, floods due to the overflow of the Penggorok and the Lasumba rivers affected 94 families as well as 94 houses and 250 ha of crops in North Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi province. In the same province, a landslide hit Sinjai Regency affecting four families and 41 ha of crops.
• For the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with localised thunderstorms is expected across the impacted provinces where warnings for rain and strong winds are in effect.
