Discover nature's laboratory this World Environment Day by taking a stroll down our research trails!

Cross the side driveway (where roadrunners are known to roam!) and embark on the John Barr Trail or explore the Simmons Research Trail loop, where our center's conservation research comes to life. From fire's impact to drought-resistant native flora in bloom, these trails are an exploration of environmental resilience. You'll also find several plots representing research on ecological design such as green roofs! 🌱

The Wildflower Center, as part of @texasscience, supports conservation research leveraging native plants and innovative design to combat environmental challenges like water scarcity, climate change, and ecosystem degradation. Learn more about our work at the link in our bio.

What’s in Season: Gregg’s mistflower (Conoclinium greggii)! 🦋

The beautiful purple-blue blossoms on this native plant aren’t just for show - they will also attract lots of butterflies as they make their journey through Texas in the fall! Gregg’s mistflower blooms March to November, providing nectar for a variety of pollinator inspect species during that period. Consider planting some in your garden this year!

The Wildflower Center is proud to participate in the Blue Star Museum program, offering free admission to our nation's active-duty military personnel and their families, from Armed Forces Day (May 18th) through Labor Day (September 2nd). ❤️

The museum access program is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts (@neaarts) and Blue Star Families (@bluestarfamilies), in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums, botanical gardens, and other organizations across the United States. Tag your active-duty friends and family below - we want to see them enjoying our gardens this summer!

Guess who's the newest addition to the wide array of wildlife that calls our nature trails home? This little fawn! 🦌

Did you know baby deer, also known as fawns, are born with white spots to camouflage them in the dappled sunlight that comes in through the tree cover? Head on over the Wildflower Center to look for this cutie in person, and be sure to drive slowly in wooded areas - there are tons of these newborn fawns around and they're not very street smart yet!
