Boonah Motorhome Rally – October 2012

We attended the CMCA Annual Motorhome Rally in Boonah in October. It was great to catch up with some long-standing friends; many of them we first met at rallies dating back to 2006. BUT the biggest thrill was seeing Doug and Jill McIver from Mundubbea, Qld. We have known them for more than 40 years and Jill’s infectious laughter has not dimmed over the years.

The other surprise we had was the poor performance from some Winegard antennas. Even though TV reception from the Boonah TV transmitter is vertically polarised, the Winegard antennas should have been working well because it was very close. Check out this motorhome that had to turn his aerial to the vertical.

Whereas this lady received ALL the channels without raising her antenna above the top of her vehicle – Hurray for SATURN.

Satellite Systems for the Traveller

When you travel to ‘far-away’ places or love to stay in National Parks or State Forests and still want to keep in touch with what’s happening in the world, a satellite system is RIGHT for you.

On this system, you can receive all the digital TV channels that are available in the city. The new VAST digital Freeview channels have been available to the traveller since December 2010.

We have 2 systems – AZURE SHINE KIT and MINIMAX KIT – both are $680 which includes freight to anywhere in Australia. Instructions for setting up your dish are here:- Satellite dish settings.

Nullarbor SA/WA

February 29th 2012
Here we are travelling across the Nullarbor. What started as just us has now become 4 cars and caravans + 1 motorhome. We have sauntered across from Nullarbor to the WA/SA border, stopping to have a look at the magnificent cliffs along the Great Australian Bight.
Our stop at the rest area 20kms west of the Nullarbor Roadhouse was not the place for TV reception – only satellite dishes were usable.

Nearly Home

Well, we are on the final leg home after completing the show circuit for the year. The show in Bendigo was the final caravan show for the year. Many people were interested in checking out caravan antennas for their new vans. It was a simple task to show them that the Saturn Antenna is the easiest caravan aerial to set up when you get to a new site. With this simple explanation, many could see the advantages of an Australian antenna for our Australian TV reception.

Travelling south again

Just when I was getting used to the Qld weather, we head off to more shows down south…..and YES, we HAVE packed JUMPERS, DOONAS, HEATERS….you just never know! BUT then again, the Qld weather has just turned drizzly and cool.

On our way south, we will be stopping off at friends in Buderim. Debbie and Vince are

PINK antenna

hosting their annual dinner for Beautiful You Cancer Charity. On the Sunshine Coast, Debbie does some phenomenal work in supporting women who suffer from cancer. To show our support for this charity, we donated a PINK antenna to be auctioned.

Just missed the floods

Visited Coffs Harbour last weekend for the Caravan & Camping Show. Poor old Kempsey was drowning while we were having a great time at Coffs.

Met up with some VERY happy customers – Bruce and Val who had great success with their CARAVAN Saturn Antenna on their HOUSE.

Saturn Antennas in South Australia

The last month has hurried by so quickly that I have to think very hard to remember where we have been. probably half the trouble is the 3-day long weekend we spent at Smoky Bay, SA. Crabs, King George Whiting and oysters were on the menu every night….mmmm!!

On the way back to Adelaide and then Melbourne, we had to tear ourselves away from Port Neill. The warming sunshine sparkling on the waters that gently lapped lazily at the seashore was sooooo enticing. We wanted to stay all day. Unfortunately, that 4-letter word called WORK nagged at us to get back on the road.

And the TV reception? WONDERFUL! Wendy and Darren Davey were so excited about their TV reception at Port Neill that they wrote to us saying that when they first arrived with their Winegard Antenna, they were NOT receiving any channels. When they did the changeover to the Saturn AUSTRALIAN caravan antenna, they received ALL the channels. The reason? The TV reception in that area comes on the vertical plane. The horizontal Winegard needed to be changed to the horizontal AND VERTICAL Saturn Antenna.

Saturn in Victoria

Saturn at Dartmoor 2011

The wood carvings at Dartmoor are incredible. This tree has nursery rhyme characters carved into it. And the people of Dartmoor are so friendly AND very proud of their town. We camped here the night and had great reception from the Saturn Caravan Antenna.

Saturn Antennas ‘on the road’

Here we are at the start of another year. This weekend, Saturn Antennas is at the Adelaide Caravan Show. Had a great time chatting with Andrew McLachlan, from Port Augusta, who purchased a Saturn Antenna way back in 1999. Andrew says that it “works like a dream”.
