Exciting news here at BCB! Radio 119, which has been part of New Choices over the last few years, has now become part of the BCB family. Radio 119 is a project that supports adults with learning disabilities to have greater access to the media and to media opportunities. As some of you will know the team produce a weekly piece for Tuesday’s About Bradford but this is a really exciting opportunity for the members of Radio 119 to become more active and involved in every aspect of BCB. We’re really looking forward to developing the project further.

Every year we bring the local elections results for Bradford to you and this year will be no different. On Friday 3rd May 10-6pm we’ll be bringing you the results live as the come in from the counts at Keighley and Sedbergh where will have reporters on the ground. We’ll also have a panel of experts in the BCB studios offering insight and analyse into the Bradford political landscape. Be sure you’re tuned into BCB 106.6FM on the day as your place to be for this year’s local elections in Bradford.

This week at BCB Journalism students from Leeds Trinity University are with us for their third and final week. Since we started as Bradford Festival Radio over 30 years ago we’ve worked in partnership with Leeds Trinity University to offer their media students a taste of working in a real life radio station. This week the team will be delivering hourly news bulletins Monday-Friday 10-4pm filled with Bradford news Leeds Trinity students will also be at our studios for the two weeks so be sure to say hi and make them feel welcome.

Finally budding radio stars from Rainbow Academy will once again be with us this Wednesday as part of our regular work with them and on Thursday, as part of work with 509 Arts on the Lost Mills and Ghost Mansions project, we’ll be broadcasting the first in a series of shows that gather the stories of the Bradfordians who worked in our cities mills. The programme will be going out 3-4pm on Thursday.
