A team of researchers from the NUS Institute for Health Innovation & Technology has unveiled a novel approach to stimulate muscle, by way of using brief and mild pulsed electromagnetic field exposure, to produce and release proteins possessing anticancer properties. These soluble chemical molecules can then be carried in the blood stream to all regions of the body for system-wide protection against cancer.

In collaboration with Microsoft, NUS Enterprise through its flagship global start-up development platform BLOCK71, has launched a new Generative AI Accelerate Programme. Participating start-ups gained unprecedented access to tools and support to build a sustainable Gen AI technology stack; and opportunities to network with mentors, investors and fellow founders who are passionate about growing Gen AI in the region.
Entrepreneurship
Cutting-edge research in quantum technologies at NUS gets a shot in the arm with the elevation of the Centre of Quantum Technologies, a Research Centre of Excellence hosted by NUS, into a flagship national research centre. This is part of Singapore’s new National Quantum Strategy to strengthen our position as a leading hub in the development and deployment of quantum technologies.
Sixty university leaders from Southeast Asia gathered at NUS for the eighth edition of the Temasek Foundation – NUS Programme for Leadership in University Management. Representing the management and academic teams from 21 universities across ASEAN, the leaders congregated at NUS to discuss key issues related to the role of AI in teaching and learning; and addressing the growing focus and demand for well-being and a holistic student life beyond academia in universities today.
