Most night workers experience sleepiness on the job, and this can lead to falling asleep unintentionally. Assoc Prof Joshua Gooley, from the Neuroscience and Behavioural Disorders Programme at the Duke-NUS Medical School comments that the best solution to the problem of sleepiness in night workers may be to fight fire with fire: let them sleep during work hours.
