Poster artist of the month
Sheila Robinson (1925-1988)
Sheila Robinson was an artist known for her printmaking, design and illustration. She was born in Nottingham and studied at the Nottingham School of Art and the Royal College of Art, where she also taught. Robinson was a highly skilled printmaker who developed an individual technique of relief printmaking using carved cardboard, as well as more commonly used linocut. In the early 1950s, she created notable posters for London Transport, showcasing her innovative designs and experience as an illustrator.
