Our networkSão Paulo, Brazil
The City of São Paulo, Brazil, has been an ICLEI Member since 1991. Under Mayor Ricardo Nunes’ leadership, it will serve as the host city for the ICLEI World Congress 2024. As the largest city in Brazil -and in all of South America- São Paulo is the country’s economic and financial center. Home to over 12 million residents and more than 20 million in the Greater São Paulo area, the city’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has made it a pioneer in Latin America. São Paulo boasts the largest fleet of electric buses, the most extensive network of rain gardens, and the city has recently committed to protecting a green area larger than the city of Paris.
