Why Joan chose Door-Stop

As part of a porch renovation on her 1920s property, Joan from Bournemouth was keen to find a modern new door that would complete the project, as well as being in keeping with her home, and offering better energy efficiency.  

Joan comments:  Our original porch and porch door was very old. The whole thing was wooden and, being on the north facing side of the house, weathered badly. We had replaced large sections of the porch’s wooden frames due to rot once already, but we had never replaced the door which had a single pane of glass and a big gap underneath. 

Joan already had a good idea of what style of door she wanted, having seen several in her neighbourhood on morning and evening dog walks. With an appointment booked with an installer, a local sole trader, she was able to explain her preferences.

Joan continues:  We had looked online at prices of doors and found a couple of designs we liked, but when our installer handed me a Door-Stop brochure, I only had to turn a few pages to find the right door - it took me less than five minutes.

We chose black as we had replaced the old wooden facias on the house with black UPVC ones and we wanted it to match. And we chose the style with diamonds as the windows in the house have diamonds in them. Our accessories are brushed chrome, purely because we prefer silver to gold or brass, and it matched the accessories on the internal door too. 

Part of the porch renovation was to benefit from better energy efficiency. We are very happy with the end result – the door is really smart and after many years of looking after the wooden frames and doors my husband is very happy that it doesn’t need any maintenance!
