THE ISLAND BUS is playing in the Spring Film Festival on Fandependentfilms.com!

There are 15 more days to watch the entire film online and help it win the audience award by becoming a fan. To see more, click here:

https://fandependentfilms.com/films/139/the-island-bus/

How does it work?

First, you can watch the entire film for FREE.

Only then if you like it, you click the “Become a fan” button and opt to pay $3 for the screening fee – as a real fan would – pretty much like with any other film you want to watch on iTunes, etc (and not steal ;-)). Fair deal, isn’t it?

All the fans count towards the final score and if there are enough fans in the end, THE ISLAND BUS will live eternally in the Fandependent Collection for your and your friends’ viewing pleasure.

So, go ahead, enjoy and show us some love.

Thank you for your support!

In case you couldn’t make it to the screening in Agia Paraskevi yesterday and happen to be on Corfu on Monday 18 May, come and watch THE ISLAND BUS at POLYTECHNO arts space, Scholemvourgo 39 at 9:15 pm.

Entry is free.

THE ISLAND BUS travelled to Athens again.

First sightings of the bus in the streets of Agia Paraskevi

It was again a rewarding experience to share the story of Saeed and Tilos with an audience and discuss the inspiration the film can give to people living in Greece today.
I am happy that THE ISLAND BUS manages to inspire thoughts and discussions about what I would call our “human condition” and how we relate to the events around us.

The audience gathers for the screening

The Q&A ranged from questions of how an island with a population of 400 relates to an influx of desperate newcomers who have just escaped death and war to questions of how racism develops – and how it can be answered by natural curiosity and a genuine interest in and compassion for the life of the others.

Mirella Legakis (Cultural Dept. of SYRIZA Agia Paraskevi) and Sibylle Meder (director of THE ISLAND BUS)

And of course, there were members of the audience who have visited Tilos and came to reminisce about an island where they found something special that inspired them.
Here is hoping that with THE ISLAND BUS this inspiration can travel further and move more people to reflect about what place hospitality and compassion have in our world of today and how we relate to the people around us wherever they come from.

The Cultural Committee of Syriza in Agia Paraskevi have invited our documentary to be part of their summer program.

THE ISLAND BUS

will screen at the auditorium of the 3rd High School of Agia Paraskevi, cnr. Dervenakion and S. Karagiorga

on Friday, 15 May 2015, at 7:30pm.

A Q&A with filmmaker Sibylle Meder will follow the screening.

Entry is free!

Since it cannot be said often enough, here is also a BIG, HEARTFELT THANK-YOU to you sweet people on THE ISLAND BUS team who have helped us so much behind the scenes with getting the film to this event! No matter how many times this sentence has been used before: without your help and contributions, making this film would not have been possible. There simply wouldn’t be a film.
