About my Practice

When difficult problems arise in life, what should you do? If you go to court, are you likely to get what you want? What does the law say about your problem? Are there other ways to sort it out? As a barrister, I specialise in answering these questions and you can instruct me to help you through the ‘Direct Access Scheme’, which means you do not have to involve a solicitor first.

Through this scheme, I take on cases in the areas of landlord and tenant (which includes residential housing and commercial leases), construction and building disputes, interference with land claims, and general contract and commercial cases.

Where I Practise

I travel across England and Wales, although most of my work is in the South East where I share my offices, called chambers, with other barristers at 42 Bedford Row in London.

Like most barristers, I am self-employed, so if instruct me through the Direct Access Scheme, you will have a contract with me and not with my chambers. You can find me in the Barristers' Register.

"Thank you! You have gone above and beyond. Not only were you professional and executed our case to the highest standard, you also made us feel comfortable and confident. We cannot express enough how appreciated your work has been."

How to Instruct Me

Please ring my chambers and ask to speak to my clerk. My clerks are very experienced and aware that legal matters can be difficult, private and sensitive.

Chambers’ number is 020 7831 0222 and email address is clerks@42br.com.

I ask you to contact me in this way as I am often in court and unavailable. If I might be able to help, my clerk will then arrange an initial consultation over the telephone.

My Professional Fees

If I accept your instructions after an initial telephone consultation, my clerk will provide further price information with a quotation given within a reasonable time and in clear terms. My fees are subject to VAT at 20%.

Some cases are more complex than others, so my fees depend on what it is you are asking me to do. I can often offer a fixed fee per piece of work so you will know the cost of each piece of work in advance.

If you decide to go ahead, I will give you written terms and conditions so that you understand the work you have engaged me to do. I will agree a timescale for any instructions which will depend on my current caseload.

Your personal data will be collected through my chambers should you wish to instruct me and you can read our privacy notice here.

Further Information

While I am registered to undertake Direct Access work, I am not authorised to 'conduct litigation'. This means that while I can draft letters on your behalf, give you advice, and represent you at court, I am not authorised to do the work of a solicitor. Under the Direct Access Scheme, the client sends out letters, organises the papers and makes any applications to the court without having to pay a solicitor. I will tell you clearly if I think you need a solicitor.
