ABOUT
Western Hydro Ltd is a small-scale hydroelectric company, based near Helston, Cornwall, UK.
The company was founded by Dr John Collier, Director, and is now also managed by his son Tom Collier, (BSc Hons) Director & Operations Manager.
We generate clean energy, which is sold back into the National Grid for the benefit of all electricity users.
Using a twin turbine generator set up Western Hydro is able to operate in most flow conditions, using a low flow and high flow turbine, or both. This allows us to utilise the plant in the majority of flow conditions, within the limits of our water licence. Typically we do not generate during prolonged dry spells, such as the summer.
We are monitored and audited by the appropriate regulatory bodies; ofgem and the Environment Agency.
