Welcome to 181

Welcome to 181 (City of Gloucester) squadron, I am Flight Lieutenant RAFAC David Middleton, the Commanding Officer.  I have been recently appointed to the squadron following service at 459 (Windsor) Sqn and recently retiring to rural Gloucestershire following a career serving the Royal Household.

It’s a pleasure and a privilege being commander of a squadron, watching the progress of a cadet throughout their time with us and seeing them mature into respectable members of the community.

The Air Cadets are open to young people aged between 12 (and in school year 8) and 17 years of age. Once joined, you can stay up until your 20th birthday.

We are currently home to some 40 cadets and are based off Eastern Avenue, in the Army Reserve base. If you, or your child, are interested in joining the Air Training Corps, why not join us on one of our parade nights. We parade weekly, every Monday and Wednesday between 1900 and 2130. We would be delighted to show you what we do and what we can offer you or your child.

As you browse our website you will find a variety of activities that cadets regularly undertake which include; Flying, Shooting, Sports, Camping and much more.

We look forward to seeing you at 181 soon.

Flt Lt David Middleton RAFAC
