Welcome
Welcome to Abbey Nursery Houston. We are a long established private children’s nursery situated within the rural village of Houston, Renfrewshire offering flexible childcare options to support families. The nursery is purpose built with spacious open plan playrooms, creating a warm homely feel for the children within a safe and secure environment. Nature trails and woodland walks are on our doorstep for the children to enjoy on a regular basis.
We use a range of teaching strategies and approaches to support our children alongside an appreciation that ‘children are the curriculum’ and together we plan the daily learning journey. We also offer a wide range of extra curricular activities such as sports coaching, language tuition, dance and drama to develop the individual talents of each child. We have a loyal staff team who have been with the nursery for many years and are all experienced, qualified Practitioners who enjoy looking after, supporting and developing the children in our care. The majority of our new parents come to us through word of mouth and we are pleased to have such a good reputation; backed up by excellent inspection reports.

Our Staff
We know how important it is to know your child is being cared for and in safe hands and we take that responsibility very seriously. Our staff go out of their way to create strong relationships and nothing is too much trouble when it comes to looking after and supporting your child.
Alongside the professional qualifications you would expect, Practitioners are also trained in First Aid, Food Hygiene, Child Protection & Manual Handling and consistently undertake further training over the year to enhance their knowledge of Pedagogy. The staff team also includes a small number of high quality trainees who bring additional fresh ideas and input to the nursery.
