128 Workshop Company REME (V)

Unit Role

The task of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) is to ensure the operational fitness of Army equipment. Whilst there has always been a requirement for qualified tradesmen and engineers, REME has been particularly key to recent operations with soldiers deploying to Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq.

The role of 128 Reclamation Workshop Company is to reclaim serviceable assemblies form battle damaged equipment in order that they can be recycled into the spares system and used again. No such unit exists in the Regular Army because there is no requirement for this kind of work in peacetime. It is therefore at times of conflict that the unit assumes a vital role.

All soldiers joining 128 Reclamation Workshop Company are offered the very best training in general soldiering skills – physical fitness, fieldcraft and weapon handling before progressing on to learn valuable trade skills.
