Everton Hit With Huge Blow
A day before the Premier League started and Everton was hit with a huge blow after receiving news that Ross Barkley sustained an injury during a pre-season training session and after the scans has been done, the young midfielder could remain out of action for a period of up to 5 months according to the head coach of the squad Roberto Martinez.
Roberto Martinez unveiled details concerning his star player Roberto Martinez as he said: "We had a scan but it was difficult to determine the extent of the injury. It is a problem with a medial ligament in his knee, but we don’t know how bad the injury is. We know there is a partial tear of the ligament and that could mean anything from seven weeks to four or five months, so we need to be cautious. I think Ross Barkley is a phenomenal footballer and we are going to miss him. There are no two ways about it,” he added.
The English midfielder damaged the medial ligament of his right knee in a training session with his teammates and even with the latest scans that have been done it still remains uncertain as to how long he will be out of the playing grounds but Martinez said that it can be for a very long period of time depending on the severity of the injury.
Everton secured the 5th spot of the Premier League during the past season which grants them access to compete in the Europa League but they faced a minor setback in the current campaign after only managing to claim 1 point in their opening match of the season against the newly promoted club Leicester City in a match that finished in a 2-2 draw.

Shaw cannot believe he is going to the FIFA World Cup 2014
Southampton left back Luke Shaw is still in shock about his selection to the England team for the FIFA World Cup 2014.
The youngster is on the brink of a big money move to Manchester United and admitted that when he heard Ashley Cole had retired from international football, he didn’t receive any phone call and had presumed he had been left out of the squad.
And although he was confirmed of a place on the plane to Brazil the very next day, he still had to pinch himself to believe it.
Shaw said that he still cannot believe it still. He admitted when he heard Ashley Cole had been left out and had retired from international football, he thought he would be going to Brazil but he didn’t want to burden himself by expecting too much because he didn’t receive any information that night.
Shaw added that he thought everyone was getting a phone call about their places in the team for the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil but he was on the phone with club mates Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert who also didn’t get phone calls so he thought it was alright.
Luke Shaw then said when the squad was announced the following day, he and his family sat around the dinner table thinking he was just 18 years old and he was going to the FIFA World Cup 2014.
According to Shaw, four years back, he was sitting at home watching England in South Africa and four years later, he is on a plane to Brazil and he feels things have changed drastically for him.
Manchester United have already submitted a £ 27 million bid for Shaw with Chelsea also interested in signing the talented full back to take the place of Ashley Cole on the left.
UNITED SUFFER LOSS
After Manchester United suffered their 2-0 loss against Olympiakos during their 1st leg of the Champions League, even more rumors are being spread around involving Manchester United and just what is going on with the same squad that was claimed as the champions in the last season and now are struggling on securing a top 5 spots in the Premier League.
The Dutchman Robin Van Persie revealed a factor that in some way is affecting his performance with the squad. The former Arsenal stated that his own teammates have made it difficult for him to perform at his usual best.
“We are lousy in a lousy position in the league, out of the cups and this (Champions League tie against Olympiakos looks a difficult one also. We are very disappointed. It’s a tough season.”
“Sometimes I try to find ways to do more but in the areas I wanted to play, my team-mates were often there. This makes it difficult for me. Then I have to change my tactics to suit my team-mates, and play outside my zone. It's a pity. We played too slow and could therefore create little. I rushed that shot. That's a shame because I don't get a lot of chances so when you get one, you have to score.” Van Persie told the media after the conclusion of United’s match against Olympiakos.
The recent results and campaign has seen Manchester United struggling to find form which is even starting to affect the players themselves and after Van Persie made those comments, it has started a series of rumors of him being unhappy at Manchester United and might even exit the club at the end of the current season.
RISING STAR
Bradford City’s Nahki Wells is a 23 years old rising star that helped Bradford reach the League Cup final last season and win promotion from League Two via the play-offs. Having already scored 15 goals in 20 appearances the young forward is now on the radar of Stoke City, Reading, QPR and the Championship club Huddesfield Town.
The club chairman of Bradford City Julian Rhodes said that there is another Premier League club that is interested in signing Nahki but Rhodes did not reveal the identity of the club: "They've been on to manager Phil Parkinson about Nahki and on that basis they could be coming in with something’’.
"We get inquiries every day on betting sites, but we've had no formal offers other than the one last week."
Another target that Mark Hughes is keen on adding to the team is Manchester City’s John Guidetti who seems very unlikely that he will be getting much playing time under Pellegrini considering all the other players and options the coach has at his disposal and a loan deal would be the best option not only for Stoke City but also Manchester City.
Guidetti has already enjoyed loan spells with Burnley, Feyenoord and Brommapojkarna. He made a splash when he switched to the Eredivisie and scored 20 goals in 23 appearances for Feyenoord and with Manchester City having already a star studded squad another loan deal would be his best option.
Stoke City are hoping they can sign Oussama Assaidi on a permanent basis as he entered the club from Liverpool only on a loan deal but his performances have impressed Mark Hughes who will have his work cut out as he has to convince Liverpool on selling him to Stoke City as well as having to battle against Fiorentina and Lazio who are also interested in signing the Moroccan winger.
BRIGHTON LOCK HORNS
Brighton & Hove Albion is going to lock horns with Barnsley in a Championship game tomorrow at their home ground Amex.
The Seagulls will be entering that game as favourites as their opposition is very low in confidence at the moment.
Barnsley is currently right at the bottom of the Championship points table and they will be making their way to Amex without their manager David Flitcroft who has recently faced the axe. It’s the assistant manager, Micky Mellon, who will manage the Tykes against Brighton.
However, the good news for the Barnsley fans is that a couple of their main players (David Fox and Chris O’Grady) who couldn’t feature in the last game against Birmingham because of their respective injuries has got fit now and they can be expected to turn up on the ground at some point of time in the match against the Seagulls.
As far as Brighton is concerned, they are at no. 9 in the Championship points table at the moment. They have not lost a Championship game in the last couple of months. The last time that they had suffered a defeat was against Nottingham Forest in the first week of October. It suggests that their recent form has been pretty good.
The Seagulls’ boss, Oscar Garcia, might give the Scottish midfielder Liam Bridcutt a starting opportunity as he had impressed during his substitute outing in the previous game against AFC Bournemouth. Will Buckley might also find himself in the starting line up.
The last time that these two sides had taken on each other was in March this year. The Tykes had ended up winning that game convincingly. It was Chris Dagnall and Jason Scotland who had found the back of the net for them.
ZE GERMANS
It seems the Germans are destined for success both in Domestic football (with Bayern and Dortmund making the Champions League Final), and international football - with the men making the semis and being generally the most impressive team at the tournament last time around, and the women taking their six successive European title!
If only I was German....!
GREATEST GOAL EVER
Is this the best goal ever scored - Zlatan gives it a speculative punt!
Grobbelaar backs technical committee
It would be fair to say that there have been plenty of opinions following Liverpool's dreadful transfer window, prompting speculation that the Reds are set to establish a "technical committee" to aid Brendan Rodgers in his hunt for new players. Former goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar thinks this is a good concept and says that the club could benefit through adopting such an approach.
Having offloaded Andy Carroll in a shock £1m loan move to West Ham in the last few days of the transfer window, the general consensus was that Rodgers would bring in a suitable replacement. However, as the seconds ticked down it was becoming more and more obvious that the £35m man was not going to be replaced and this caused something of a stir amongst supporters. It means the Reds are severely limited in attacking options - which is incredibly concerning considering the disastrous start to the new campaign.
Following such a lack of activity, several newspapers have reported that the club are about to establish a technical committee to advise the manager on new players. This comes despite the fact that Rodgers specifically said that he does not want to answer to a Director of Football.
While such a committee is certainly a debatable topic amongst most people, former keeper Grobbelaar is quite positive about the whole set up.
The 54-year-old, who made over 440 appearances for Liverpool between 1981 and 1994, told talkSPORT, "What I’m reading now is that they’re going to have to go through a committee but if you have a look at the turn of events of football and the new phase we have a soccer expert who has a look at all these players and then you have to go to him. You have to debate him before you actually get the player to your club. It is a little bit of bother but in the long run maybe it is a good thing for all clubs."

Can Manchester United remain competitive?
The club that has dominated the Premier League since its existence had their credentials to remain competitive come into question of late.
Last season Manchester United lost the league to their local rivals, Manchester City, on goal difference on the final day of the season. It was a wound that cut deep. For the first time in 44 years it was the blue side of Manchester that was celebrating a league victory.

Spain Break the Record
Spain came into the European Championship Final knowing that if they won they would become the world's most succesful international team of the modern day era, with an impressive hatrick of the Euro 2008 title, a World Cup bagged in South Africa in 2010, and then this final title to complete the set.
Predictably Spain started strongly, but it was all in the balance until Manchester City's David Silva stepped up to the plate and nodded in this fine effort! Congratulations Spain!
