Welcome to Good Shepherd!
We’re an ancient-future sort of place. Our ancestry is both rooted in the Episcopal tradition and connected to the meta-narrative of all the faith journeys of those who’ve come before us. Our tradition centers us and grounds us.
We’re also focused on the present, which helps create the future. We believe our society and world can be bettered through the radical love of Christ. We choose to engage in contemporary issues; they are relevant and important – as is our response to them.
We offer a particular welcome to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer people and families. We are committed to justice for all persons and we promise in our baptism to respect the dignity of every human being. We believe that all people are beloved by God, no exceptions, and we celebrate all the shapes that families take.

We are people of God, seeking Christ everywhere. Good Shepherd was founded as a mission of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in 1968, staking a claim on a piece of land in East Vancouver still surrounded by fir trees. Our mission is that we are people of God, committed to acting in love, seeking and serving Christ in the world, one another, and ourselves. We value service and outreach. We are a people that believe our first calling is in the world: in our workplaces, in our homes, in our city, in Creation. We are a people of joy and witness, excited to add your story to ours!
We don’t have all the answers, and that’s okay. What we do know is that we are all people of God, committed to acting in love, seeking and serving Christ in the world, one another, and ourselves. We want to help you serve each other, follow Jesus with your life, grow together, and change the world with the love of Christ.
