Teaching English, Transforming Lives

Learn English At Home (LEAH) is a charity supporting ethnically diverse adults in Kingston, Richmond and Hounslow.

Our vision is to achieve ‘inclusion through language’.

Through personalised language support LEAH empowers people whose first language is not English to communicate independently in areas of health, wellbeing, education and work.

Our Clients

Our services are for isolated ethnically diverse adults with limited English who are unable to access college classes due to caring responsibilities, physical and/or mental ill health, lack of self-confidence or illiteracy in their first language. LEAH clients include refugees, former refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.

Our Volunteers

Our network of trained volunteer tutors teach clients in their homes, in community classes, in businesses and remotely by phone, online video and post. LEAH volunteer tutors come from diverse backgrounds and people with English as their second language are positively encouraged to apply. .

“They are friendly, professional and really understand how to improve people’s quality of life through learning.”

— Eliene, 1:1 home tutoring client
