MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT: April/May Newsletter
I want to thank those of you who submitted your artwork for jurying into the Statewide Exhibit/On Common Ground: From the Mountains to the Sea. Doug Dawson is right now in the process of jurying and artists will be notified at the end of the month. We had 76 artists from the 3 sister societies enter 200 paintings and they are all beautiful! Good luck to all of you.
The show will open at the Eno Arts Mill Gallery in Hillsborough on June 7. There will be an artist reception and awards ceremony from 5:00 – 6:00 pm in the gallery. And afterwards there will be a First Friday celebration. There will be live music, a food truck and lots of wonderful art to enjoy—and maybe purchase! Bring your family and friends for this fun event.
Along with the exhibit, as I am sure you are aware, Doug will teach a 3 day workshop at Eno Arts Mill and there is still space available. For questions and information please email Nina MacDonald, ninamac3@icloud.com.
Tim Williams has planned an interesting and unique program for the group on May 11 at 10:00 a.m. Susan Shuk Lee will critique paintings that members sent in. Her approach will compare the paintings with artwork from the Masters and I have heard this is a wonderful presentation. Don’t miss it!
Tim also planned a lovely plein air event earlier this month at Emily Thompson’s beautiful home. It was such a lovely day and we will be looking into other places and times for another get together to paint outside. If you have any suggestions for venues please let Tim know, timwilliams123456@gmail.com
I would like to thank Kathryn Olive for serving as Vice President. She has stepped aside and Diff Whitmore has agreed to be Vice President. Terri Leslie will be our new secretary. She will begin in May. Thank you, Diff and Terri.
We are still looking for someone to take over membership duties. Those of you who indicated on the volunteer form that you were interested, please let me know if you still are.
