The pre-order window for our honey bee colonies is from February 1 until early April. Here’s how it works.

  2. Decide if you want package bees or a nucleus colony. Need help choosing? Click here for a guide. (Package pickups were April 6, 2024, so we only have nucleus colonies left for 2024).
  3. Place your order.
  4. Sign up for our online courses and study up about bees. Sign up here
  5. Order a hive, tools, and protective clothing. What a checklist of what to buy? Click here
  6. Pick up your bees on the scheduled pick up date. See colony pickup details below.

PRO TIP: When you examine a frame of honey bees, it’s easiest to see eggs or the queen when the sun is behind your shoulder. This is a queen cell with a queen pupae inside. Another queen chewed a hole in the side of the cell (killing the pupae) and now worker bees are disassembling it. You can see them pulling on her white translucent legs.
