About Us

Who are we?

Warwick Lions is a group of individuals drawn together by their desire to serve the Warwick community. We are a diverse group in many ways and always eager to welcome new members.  We are non-political, we have no cultural or religious boundaries, and there is no gender discrimination. In fact, to join us all we require is that you are willing and you wish to serve those in need in your local community. Of course, if you wish to add an outlet to your social life and improve your circle of friends, this is also available!

The aim of any Lions Club (world wide) is to promote and benefit the less fortunate in our own localities. Lions Clubs International was founded over 100 years ago and is arguably the world’s largest community service organisation with over 1.4 million members.

Who benefits from our work?

90% of the money we raise is spent locally in the Warwick and Leamington Spa area. We have helped individuals and families with needs that they cannot meet themselves, such as a pushchair, school uniforms, a cot, medical supplies, and furniture. Senior Citizens have been taken to the Pantomime and other shows and were treated to an afternoon tea party.

We also carry out activities and events to help our community and give regular donations to local causes such as SafeLine, Myton Hospices, The Air Ambulance Service, local youth organisations (Guides, Scouts, Cadets), and local schools such as Northleigh House School, and Ayelsford and Newburgh Primary Schools, to name but a few. One of our favourite things we do each year is organise a tin collection and parcel distribution during Christmas time for many of the elderly and families in need in our area. In 2020 we collected, sorted and delivered 200 parcels in and around Warwick, even during the pandemic!

How do we raise funds?

We organise and take part in several events during the year including the Warwick Town Bonfire and Firework Display, Carols at the Castle, an Easter Egg Raffle, and a tombola at the Warwick Victorian Evening. We also raise funds through one off events. For instance, we have held charity fashion shows, concerts, and a knitathon. During the pandemic, we had to find ways to raise money in ways that didn’t involve events, so we created and sold activities for families, such as our Halloween Hunt packs and Christmas Kindness Boxes. Finally, you can regularly find us at the Warwick Market every third Saturday of the month where we promote our events and raise funds for our charitable work. Stop by and say hi!

We were hit hard by the pandemic as our major fundraising events had to be cancelled. To make up lost ground, we conducted a JustGiving fundraising campaign on our 60th year anniversary.  Our club ran several campaigns to raise funds, including Lion Peter’s Incredible Wing Walk.

Where do we meet?

The Warwick Lions Club meets at the Warwick Arms Hotel on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 8:00pm.
