A Higher Standard of App

One gets the sense that Tech Land is the land of the young, urbane, agnostic hipster. And while this describes me pretty well, technology really is a universal that all people can harness. Sometimes overshadowed by their glitzier secular counterparts (who doesn’t like a burping app, amirite?), religious apps can help the devout stay pious, and help the curious find a more meaningful path. Here are a few notables:

Qibla is the direction that Muslims pray, facing toward Mecca and can be tough to find if you’re in an unfamiliar place. But, with geolocation and compass technology in mobile devices, it’s all too easy. alQibla is a handy device for finding Qibla.

There are tons of Bible apps, but the Illustrated Bible for iPad is especially notable for the art and comic-book-styling. Likewise, there are a number of great Siddur apps available.

Buddhists and others looking for inner peace can find help with meditation with iSamadhi.

Finally, Pastafarians can seek His Noodly Appendage with their own app, which, sadly isn’t all that robust.
